The gates open at SAASMaine for the 2023 season opener in exactly one week*.
No, we don’t have literal gates, but everyone knows what that means.
It’s been an agonizingly long winter, and a sadistically short spring, but we think you will like and appreciate some of the changes we’ve made. There are some other “kind of a big deal” things in the works that may or may not be done by opening day.
Without getting into specifics, the changes that have been made, and that are being worked on, will considerably change how old tactics will work (or not) on the field. I’ve dropped some hints on my personal social medias, but have kept things pretty tight-lipped otherwise.
It seriously takes a village, and with this being only our third season, the village is quite small. However, despite our tiny village, it is well-known and supported around the globe. For those of you who know how much of a people person I am (hint: I’m not), you can certainly more appreciate the solid connections, friendships, and partnerships that I’ve created.
So, yes, this is going to be a “thank you” post. I will be naming names and exposing the parties who are guilty of being amazing cheerleaders.
First and foremost, I will be calling out Dan. Dan is the owner of TacticalParts.com and the reason we have such a fantastic rental fleet and amazing OP: Damage Control raffle prizes. Granted, we still have to pay for it all, but when a small business trusts a fledgling small business, it really goes a long way to help out.
This year we are starting the season with eight KWA KO EVEs (four 4s and four 9s). These are hands-down the best out of the box replicas you can get; they have the same KWA 2.5 gearboxes that their higher-end replicas come with, wrapped in a sleek tough polymer shell. Yes, we still have our old M4s, but as they break, we will probably opt to not keep fixing them.
And wait until you see the raffle prize for this year’s OP: Damage Control. Epic.
New to us this year is Cody at 6mmPlastic.com. We’ve had a lot of history with these BBs and are super proud that we are now a distributor. And yes, pound for pound, 6mmPlastic BBs are every bit as good as those “major brands”, and they cost less, which is exactly what Cody wanted to do for the airsoft community: inexpensive high quality BBs.
Shawn “Doc” Goodwin, founder and president of Maine Veterans Project has been an amazing ally for both SAASMaine as well as the veterans in Maine. We love raising funds for MVP every year, and sincerely hope that this year’s OP: Damage Control will raise more funds than the last two years combined.
Doc has unwittingly pushed us to be a better version of ourselves, which is why we’re starting our “Airsoft for Veterans” events this year. Being able to give back to the veteran community is a Very Good Thing™.
But it’s not just businesses that continue to make this all possible. It’s local people too, and we have some of the best.
Bobbie “One-Eye”, Feraldyke Jackie “Q”, the Ring brothers and their buddy Mica, Kate and Chelsie, John, CC, Charlene, Becky, Catherine, Edgar, Joe J., Andrew, Tanner. You are all awesome, and you all should know exactly why.
At the top of this heap is my partner and Field Mom Tessa “Morsel”. Without her, there would literally be no SAASMaine. So please, appreciate her as much as I do.
