We take #22aday seriously. There is simply no reason for veterans to feel lost, ignored, and out of sorts simply because the current system in place to take care of them is one giant clusterfuck failure. Like Bernie said: “If you can’t afford to take care of your veterans, then don’t go to war”.
Yes, we know it seems silly to offer up war games for veterans, but there is worldwide anecdotal evidence that airsoft has an overwhelmingly positive effect on veterans, even/especially combat veterans. A quick Google search nets a lot of results like this news article: https://kfor.com/news/airsoft-game-treats-ptsd-in-veterans/
“Exposure therapy” is a thing, and in some cases it’s highly effective.
We’re not saying that just dumping someone into an airsoft game will magically fix their anxiety, but it will help with any existing therapy they may be receiving. And the key is repetitiveness… they have to “keep doing it until it gets boring”, according to our in-house therapist.
This is why we will be doing the veterans-only free day of airsoft every month. Airsoft can get a little spendy, and this will ensure that even those who are already living paycheck to paycheck will be able to “afford” to come out, spend some time with fellow veterans, and have fun running around in the woods slinging plastic at each other in a space that the most dangerous thing is tripping over a root, or sinking into the Bog of Eternal Stench.
And you can bet your ass that ever single veteran who does come to play will be treated like human beings, complete with an unwritten “what happens at airsoft stays at airsoft” hard and fast rule. But now it’s written. We’ll pretend that it isn’t.
So here’s the deal:
-
- The third Saturday each month that we’re open will be Airsoft for Veterans.
- 6/17, 7/15, 8/19, 9/16, 10/21
- There will be no field or rentals fees
- Please don’t break our rentals
- Each veteran can bring a “plus one”
- Doesn’t have to be a family member; it can be whoever the veteran would like to bring
- The third Saturday each month that we’re open will be Airsoft for Veterans.
