OP: Damage Control
September 26, 2021 @ 08:00 - 15:00
$5.00 – $25.00In conjunction with Equal Airsoft‘s “Damage Control” event, we are holding our own event to raise funds to help veterans.
After an exhaustive search, we found and ultimately decided to send proceeds to Maine Veterans Project, whose mission is to prevent veteran suicide right here in Maine for our Maine veterans.
- 22 veterans and active duty service members commit suicide every day in the United States.
- Veterans make up just .045% of the total population yet account for 20% of all suicides in the United States
- We have lost more veterans to suicide than in direct combat in both Iraq and Afghanistan combined. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in America
- Suicide is the #1 leading cause of death in the 15-25 age group
- These numbers are only projected to go up
We at SAASMaine love the work MVP is doing for our local veterans, and with YOUR help, we can all help them out. According to MVP president Shawn Goodwin: “We operate uniquely in a manner that utilizes partnerships to maximize every donate a dollar. We’ve actually been able to produce at least 150% of our donation income with regards to output and veterans programming.”

The Op
There are three factions:
WPO (open to anyone): An intergovernmental military alliance between a bulk of the world governments.
Cardistan (open to anyone): A small country that’s rich in crude oil, looking to make a name for itself and be a world power.
Nomads (invite-only): The Nomads are an indigenous people that unfortunately were within the borders when Cardistan was formed. They have no alliance with the “Cardies”, nor do they recognize the authority of the WPO.
When an aircraft that’s carrying a nuclear device crashes, the whole world takes notice. In this case, the WPO immediately scrambled a small strike team to infiltrate the small Cardistan province in which the plan crashed. The WPO’s issue is equal parts the fact the plane belongs to a WPO nation, and the WPO has been fighting to reduced the worldwide nuclear arsenal. To have nuclear technology lost to Cardistan would be a huge embarrassment.
However, the Cardistan government feels that if they were able to get their hands on this technology, that would let them get a seat at the worldwide “big table”, and they would be able to dictate the price of crude oil for the entire world – who would stop them?
Meanwhile, the Nomads are simply trying to live their daily lives and want everyone to just leave them and their goats alone.
Gameplay
Semi-only game.
Today’s game is going to be a 4-hour nonstop marathon of play. There will be a lot of things going on, so unless you focus on your squad leaders’ respective orders, you will get lost, and probably not have a lot of fun.
There will be as much “hunt and gather” and roleplay as there will be shooting. The more you play this up, the more fun it will be for everyone.
