Please note:
Effective immediately, SAASMaine will be moving to an “every other week” schedule. Simply put, we are unable to sustain weekly low turnout rates, and are hoping this move will make it more convenient for players to plan.
As of right now, the rest of the 2022 season will look like this:
- Sunday, July 24 (Women’s Airsoft Open Day – no game scheduled)
- Sunday, August 7
- Sunday, August 21
- Sunday, September 4
- Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25 (Damage Control II)
- Sunday, October 9
- Sunday, October 23 (LAST GAME OF THE SEASON)
Also, we will no longer be writing complex scenarios, but will be holding basic games. We will continue to work on, maintain and upgrading the field, but not nearly at the pace that we’d set for ourselves.
Our current rental fleet has taken a beating and will be retired soon. Our new rental AEGs should be here by the end of July; four brand new KWAs. We will most likely buy four more next spring, and so on.
We’re really trying to make this work but are beginning to understand why no one else has built a field in Northern Maine. We know it’ll be easier to attract more new players with a bigger and better rental fleet, which is one of the reasons we decided to purchase new, instead of trying to save a few bucks and buying used.
Fun fact: between the cost of the AEGs plus getting them up to snuff, even with average rental fee costs, we haven’t even come close to paying for them.
After careful consideration, deliberation, and a huge meltdown on my personal Facebook, this is the compromise we’ve come up with. We fully realize that everything is absurdly expensive, especially fuel (which is why the field is not mowed nearly as often as it was last year).
As much as we would love to hand-deliver invitations to each and every player, there are only so many hours in a day. Because of this, we rely on social media to post updates (like this), schedules, information, etc. Everything we post is publicly available and readily accessible. All we can do is provide the information, but at some point, people need to read and digest that information. To this end, we’ve also added a Twitter account, in case people are fully avoiding the Metaverse. At some point this week, though, we will only be updating things ON THE WEBSITE. We simply can’t continue to post things in multiple places each week.
We will also continue to update and interact on our Discord.
Thank you for your attention to this.
